The Beaverton School District’s Clothes Closet, which provides clothes to elementary-aged students in need of assistance, is asking for your help in providing some much-needed items that are in high demand. They are:
- Pants for elementary aged students from sizes 4T and up
- Sports shorts of all sizes for both boys and girls
- Sweat pants and stretch pants for middle and high school students
- Department store shopping bags with handles
If you have any of these items you can donate, please bring them to school and place them in a bag inside the Clothes Closet container right inside the school entrance. Clothes should be laundered, free of stains and appropriate for wearing to school. Please note that the Clothes Closet can only accept NEW socks and underwear.
As of April 2, 2014, the Clothes Closet has served 1,617 students and has distributed more than 21,000 items of clothing to Beaverton students. Their operating budget is supported solely by donations from parent groups and community members; 100% of the funds donated are invested back into the program for the purchase of high need and high demand items. At this point, funds are dangerously low. If you have not donated yet this school year, please consider sending a donation to Volunteer Services at the District Office.
