Early Literacy Success Initiative

A RP parent spoke at our last PTO meeting about how the new Early Literacy Success Initiative in Oregon will impact our district and our school. Beaverton School District gets $6M to support literacy and the School Board will allocate funds to programs by December. Of course, this will impact students at Raleigh Park, particularly as a title one school.

  1. Funds can be used in four areas: Tutoring for kids, summer learning for kids, Professional Development and coaching for teachers, and curriculum and materials all aligned to research-based reading practices.

  2. High-dosage tutoring has been proved particularly effective in some neighboring schools and districts.

  3. At Raleigh Park, more students do not meet standards than do meet standards.
