Oregon Battle of the Books Tournament Starts Monday, February 2nd!

Raleigh Park’s OBOB tournament begins the week of February 2. The winning team will advance to the regional tournament on Saturday, March 7 — good luck to all competitors!

How it works

  • Most school days in February there will be two battles: 7:45 AM and 8:05 AM.

  • This is a double-elimination tournament; each team is guaranteed at least two battles.

  • The tournament bracket is posted on the bulletin board next to the cafeteria doors and across from the library.

  • Students may stop by the library before school for help checking the bracket or finding their next battle.

How you can help

  • Encourage your student to read as many of the books as they can — every chapter counts!

  • Use the practice questions and book-outline sheets in OBOB folders to review key characters, settings, and plot points.

  • Practice aloud: naming characters and places and talking through what happened in the story builds recall and confidence.

  • Volunteers are needed to check in and support students during some lunch periods. Your presence makes a big difference.

Thank you for your support — we’re looking forward to a fun and competitive tournament!
